Social media platforms, digital communities, and AI-powered technologies (especially Agentic AI)   have transformed how individuals, organizations, and societies create, share, and consume information. Platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, and emerging digital channels enable users to generate content, build networks, influence opinions, foster collaboration, and participate in global conversations in real time. These technologies now play a central role in marketing, customer engagement, knowledge sharing, professional networking, and community building.

In this course, students will explore the evolving social media landscape and examine how organizations can strategically leverage digital platforms to create value, strengthen relationships, and drive engagement. Drawing on established theories of human behavior, communication, and social influence, students will analyze how individuals interact within digital environments and how content, algorithms, communities, and networks shape user behavior and decision-making.

Students will also investigate the growing role of artificial intelligence in social media, including content generation, recommendation systems, sentiment analysis, social listening, personalization, digital marketing, and audience analytics. Ethical considerations such as privacy, misinformation, algorithmic bias, trust, and responsible AI use will be examined alongside the societal impacts of these technologies.

2. Integrating Social Networks, Business Intelligence, and Web Analytics

Organizations today generate and collect unprecedented volumes of data from social media platforms, websites, mobile applications, connected devices, online communities, and enterprise systems. Transforming this data into actionable intelligence has become a critical capability for organizations seeking to improve decision-making, enhance customer experiences, identify emerging opportunities, and gain competitive advantage.

In this course, participants will learn how to collect, integrate, and analyze data from diverse digital, social, and business sources. Students will explore techniques for extracting and managing structured and unstructured data from social networks, web platforms, digital applications, and other large-scale data environments. They will apply modern web analytics, business intelligence (BI), data visualization, and artificial intelligence tools to uncover patterns, trends, relationships, and insights within complex digital ecosystems.

The course examines analytical methods and technologies widely used by digital-first organizations, technology firms, e-commerce leaders, and data-driven enterprises. Topics include social media analytics, customer and user behavior analysis, sentiment analysis, social network analysis, predictive analytics, AI-enhanced decision support, collaborative intelligence, and the use of data to inform business strategy and innovation.

Students will also explore how social networks, digital communities, and AI-driven systems influence information flow, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective intelligence within and across organizations. Ethical considerations related to data governance, privacy, transparency, and responsible AI use will be integrated throughout the course.

3. Analysis and Development of Intelligent Information Systems and Digital Applications

Organizations increasingly rely on intelligent information systems, digital platforms, cloud services, and AI-enabled applications to support business operations, customer engagement, innovation, and strategic decision-making. Successfully developing these solutions requires balancing business objectives, user needs, technical requirements, security considerations, and organizational change.

This course examines contemporary approaches to the analysis, design, development, implementation, and management of information systems and digital applications throughout the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Students will explore both traditional and modern development methodologies, including Waterfall, Spiral, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, Lean Development, Prototyping, and Human-Centered Design approaches. Emphasis is placed on selecting appropriate methodologies based on organizational goals, project complexity, and stakeholder requirements.

4. Digital Trust, Cloud Architecture, and AI Governance in Mobile & Social Systems

As organizations scale their social, mobile, and AI-driven platforms, long-term success requires more than customer engagement—it demands a resilient, secure, and ethically governed digital infrastructure. This course bridges modern cloud architecture with data governance, security, and digital trust to ensure intelligent platforms scale safely, reliably, and sustainably.

Participants will explore the cloud and edge architectures required to power real-time mobile applications, microservices, and high-velocity social data streams. Executives and technical leaders will evaluate frameworks for digital trust, algorithmic transparency, AI ethics, data privacy compliance (GDPR, CCPA), DevSecOps, and brand protection in public digital ecosystems. 5. Managing Emerging Digital Technologies

IT organizations must be able to leverage new technologies. This course focuses on how organizations can effectively and efficiently assess trends and emerging SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics, Cloud) (especially Agentic AI) technologies, and analyzing and developing new application systems. Participants will learn how to help their organization define, select, and adopt new information technologies, including promising technologies like Quantum Computing and the Metaverse (a virtual world where billions of people live, work, shop, learn and interact with each other using 3D virtual facsimiles or avatars).  This course will introduce candidates to new directions in information systems, and effective approaches for evaluating their relevance and applicability to their business environments as well as the new challenges and problems that they present. Candidates will learn about emerging technologies and the latest design trends in data and knowledge, networks and applications in terms of what issues they address and in particular, how organizations can exploit them for competitive advantage.

Topics include: Creating a business case for an emerging information technology, identifying factors affecting the successful adoption of new information technologies, identifying the key attributes, business benefits, risks, and cost factors of a new technology, knowing how to effectively use advanced search and selection metrics for identifying and selecting new technology, describing technology trends that presently drive or are expected to drive the selection of new technologies over the next decade and providing organizational structures and frameworks that guide the enhanced adoption and capitalization related to what new technologies and approaches can offer.

6. Service Thinking

Service Thinking is the set of principles, methods, and tools for the application of science, management, and engineering principles to services – tasks that the organization performs for others. Service Thinking guides the transition of the organization that occurs when the business focus is on the customer’s experience.

Design thinking is a process for creative problem solving.  Rather than a one-size-fits-all mindset, it encourages a holistic view where uncertainty and ambiguity are welcomed and embraced to consider all sides of a problem. A design mindset can be applied to any life situation, and it aids in considering the bigger picture and acting accordingly. Design Thinking and Innovation will teach you how to leverage fundamental design thinking principles and innovative problem-solving tools to address business challenges and build products, strategies, teams, and environments for optimal use and performance.

Service & Design Thinking addresses questions such as how to:
